Gale Pfueller Track Classic – A Fond Farewell!

After two wonderful years, we’ve made the decision to bring the Gale Pfueller Track Classic to a close. While we won’t be holding the event next year, we are incredibly grateful for the fun, energy and enthusiasm that surrounded it.

The Track Classic was created to be something a little different – a chance for runners of all ages and abilities to come together, get on the track, try something new, and most importantly, have fun. And that’s exactly what happened!

We had young runners competing alongside seasoned runners, families cheering each other on, exciting relays, and the opportunity to experience the challenge and fun of a true mile race. Seeing participants ranging from kids to runners in their 70s sharing the track was especially rewarding.

While participation never quite grew to the level needed to sustain the event, the people who did come out made it something special. We have so many great memories from these two years, and we’re thankful to everyone who participated, volunteered, cheered, helped organize or simply gave the event a try.

Sometimes an event has a wonderful run (no pun intended!) and still reaches its natural stopping point. We feel the Gale Pfueller Track Classic has done just that.

A huge thank-you to everyone who helped make these two years so much fun. We’re proud of what we created, grateful for the memories, and excited to see what new adventures await our running community!

Most importantly, the Track Classic gave us a wonderful opportunity to honor the memory of Gale Pfueller – a founding member of the GBRC, whose love of running and community inspired the event. We hope that the laughter, competition, camaraderie and joy we shared on the track reflected the spirit Gale brought to those around him – and that, in some small way, we kept his memory running with us.
