Join us for the Race Beneath the Sun, a 5 mile race and 1/2 mile kids fun run at Fairhaven Park in Bellingham. This race takes place Saturday June 7, 2008 at 10:00 am, with the kids run starting 15 minutes earlier.
Race Description
The course is mostly trail. Leaving Fairhaven Park the course turns west to
the bay and loops around the off-leash dog-walking area and water treatment
facility at the bay and returns east, gradually uphill, passing Fairhaven
Park(approx 2 1/2 mi),and stays on the Interurban trail for an out and back
segment that is mainly flat. The trail does cross streets so caution is
advised. The race begins and ends on the park entrance road outside the park
pavilion.
Awards are 4 deep in age groups <9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39,
40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Grand prizes to overall Male & Female winners and
random drawings.
The present course has been used since 2000.
There will be muffins, breads & fruit available after the race.
1/2 mile kids run.
Registration:
Registration is 9-9:45 Am at Fairhaven Park. Fees for non-GBRC are the usual $5 ($7 Canadian) for adults and $2
($3 Can.) for 18 and under.
How to Get There
To reach Fairhaven Park, take exit 250 off I-5, head west on Fairhaven
Parkway 1 1/2 mi to 12th St(traffic light). Turn left and stay left at the
next light to follow Chuckanut Drive 300 yds to a left turn into Fairhaven
Park. Parking lot is to the right as you enter. If the lot is full, continue
into the park and find more parking spaces near the tennis courts.
