Location: Cascade Natural Gas meeting room
In Attendance: Len, Alison, Carolyn, Alta, Sharon Ensslen, Christy, Rick Libsack, Rick Hill, Vicki, Bill, Gale, Tjalling, and Kathy Tuttle.
Financial report for 2001 was presented. Expenses include RRCA insurance, coaching, newsletter, scholarships, races and activities. No discrepancies were found in the audit of the records. The 2002 budget was reviewed. The 676-GBRC phone line will be cancelled now that we have the www. gbrc.net web site. Also, Vicki will compare different copy shops for the best price to produce our newsletter.
We have 573 members with 393 newsletters. The newsletter grace period ends with the April edition.
Two for the Road: 100 runners. Sharon likes new start location in Whatcom Falls Park. It was decided for future races that the occupant of a baby stroller would not be counted as a pair and would not be given a finish placing in a race.
Lake Samish Runs: 166 runners. Parking shuttle worked well and the park manager was satisfied with the parking. The high school student volunteer was discussed.
Rick Libsack reported permits for the Honeywagon and Chuckanut 50K were processed.
Len reported there was no date or commitment from Haggen yet regarding a 2nd run in the fall.
Equipment: The race clock will be used for the Holland Days run in Lynden. They will pay a $50 fee to use the clock and must sign a waiver. Knowing how to attach the clock to the tripod is a necessity.
Events/Activities: The Grand Prix Awards presentation and Adventure Run will be March 23 at 9:30 at Fairhaven Park in the lower pavilion. Postcards will be sent.
Chuckanut Footrace: Co-directors Craig, Mike McQuaide, and Len. Superfeet (they make insoles) will be the new sponsor and take care of pre-registration as well. Rick will get the park use permit for Larrabee. This will be the 35th annual Chuckanut.
Website: Rick and Bill reported. Results of races are up. Now we need to publicize the site and put the address in the newsletter. Len will write an article about the website and a profile of Rick and Bill could be put in the newsletter. Articles may be put it in the Herald, Business Pulse, and B'ham Business Journal. Links to other sites like Bellingham.org, COB.org, Kulshan.com, RCAA, BCathletics, and the B'ham Herald.
Rick and Bill will have website meeting next week to discuss the organization and content desired on the site.
New Business: A letter was received from the Western Foundation acknowledging the club's gift of $1000 to the GBRC Scholarship Fund. Another letter was received from John Hastings of Everett regretting that he could not renew due to injuries and family plans but he hoped to rejoin in the future.
Next board meeting: April 15 at 6:30 in the Cascade Natural Gas meeting room. Everyone welcome.
